HOLIDAZE

I hope you all had a very happy Thanksgiving with family and friends!

Here are a couple of humorous poems I wrote- reflecting on the holiday season. As you may know, I love retelling traditional poems and songs. Enjoy!

Twas the Night of Thanksgiving

Twas the night of Thanksgiving and I lay awake-

My over-stuffed tummy proceeding to ache.

It happens each year and each year I ask why

Did I have to have three heaping helpings piled high?

With each dish I gobbled, I went back for more.

The stuffing with gravy I mostly adore.

I sat at the table, engorged, overfed,

While visions of three kinds of pie filled my head.

Now apple, now pumpkin, now luscious pecan!

To have just a sliver of one was my plan,

With tea, so I thought, then I put down my cup,

And ate them all, ate them all, ate them all up!

Jingle Bells

Dashing through the malls In a shopping craze, Still so much to buy, Only four more days. Going into debt, Getting really stressed, Shopping, wrapping day and night, Without a moment’s rest.

Oh jingle Bells, jingle bells Jingle merrily. Don’t forget to spend some time With friends and family!

Make some ornaments Bake some gingerbread. Skip that shopping spree- Play a game instead. Eat a tasty meal, Hike or ski or skate. Keep your loved ones by your side. Have fun and celebrate!

Oh jingle Bells, jingle bells, Jingle merrily. Here’s to happy memories With friends and family!
